Sapphire Percutaneous Technique

28th Sapphire Percutaneous Technique

Since 2003, the minimally invasive FUE method has established itself worldwide at the established clinics for hair transplants. The name stands for “Follicular Unit Extraction”, which means that donor hair in the form of grafts is removed from the donor area at the back of a patient’s head using a hollow needle and implanted elsewhere in the scalp to fill up the corners of the hairline and thinning areas.

The FUE method with sapphire percutaneous technique - what is so special about it?

Recently there has been a further development of the FUE method: the sapphire percutaneous technique.

This method uses special sapphire FUE sapphire blades instead of a hollow needle. These particularly filigree blades are extremely hard and smooth. They are available in sizes from 0.8 to 1.5 and the doctor can choose a blade for the hair transplant that exactly matches the patient’s hair structure. The nature of the sapphire blade allows the surgeon to create the channels at exactly the right angle (40 to 45) to bring the grafts in the right direction. The sectional view is no longer U-shaped as with conventional FUE, but V-shaped.
With this new, innovative technique, which is the result of decades of experience and research, the removal and implantation of the grafts is particularly gentle.

How does the sapphire percutaneous technique work?

The hair specialist proceeds with a conventional FUE hair transplant in three steps:

  • Removal of the grafts
  • Opening of the canals
  • Implanting the grafts into the treatment area

The first step does not change even with the sapphire method. The innovative only comes into its own during the preparation of the canals. Instead of using a hollow steel needle, the hair doctor works with a sapphire blade. The V-shaped channels can be made much finer. The doctor can place several channels close to each other and determine the exact direction of growth.

The advantages of the FUE sapphire percutaneous technique

The innovative feature of this technique is that the doctor can create the channels for the hair follicles exactly according to the hair condition and growth direction of the patient’s hair. In this way, the grafts can neither fall out nor change their direction of growth. The hair becomes denser and completely natural.

  • The advantages at a glance:
  • higher growth rate compared to the conventional FUE technique
  • up to 30 percent more hair density than with the usual FUE technique
  • faster wound healing
  • less scarring
  • postoperative complications occur only very rarely
  • Gentle anaesthesia without needles thanks to the Comfort-In system, in which the anaesthetic is pressed directly into the scalp under pressure.
  • shorter recovery time. After the conventional FUE procedure it is about 15 days. After hair transplantation using the sapphire percutaneous technique it takes one week.

Our hair specialists at Garanthair also use this method successfully. Our company can look back on rich experience in the field of hair transplants with FUE. We always strive to offer our patients only the best. The sapphire percutaneous technique is currently the best we can offer you.
